L'antiaméricanisme français (suite)
J’ai oublié de noter cet article publié dans le « Times » de lundi sur le chef d’orchestre William Christie. L’article m’intéressait surtout pour deux raisons : d’abord, c’est impressionnant de voir combien cet homme est responsable pour l’appréciation actuelle de la musique baroque française, et ensuite, parce que M. Christie, né à Buffalo, est un Américain qui vit à Paris depuis 33 ans. Selon l’article, il a même pris la citoyenneté de son pays d’adoption, tout en retenant son passeport américain. M. Christie note qu’il a « his complaints about French arrogance and policy, but he is downright worried about his native land. »
Contrairement à ce qu’on pourrait lire dans les carnets web d’autres résidents notoires d’origine américaine en France, il ajoute ceci : « Ordinary citizens there are told things about the world by rather unscrupulous and, I think, evil people, and they believe them. I find many aspects of what's happening in the States today rather frightening. » Moi aussi.
